Product Description

Differences between suspension and pin post type insulators:

Suspension insulators are designed to withstand very high tensile forces. They can be connected in multiple strings to increase mechanical and electrical strength, making them suitable for transmission lines of various voltage levels. These insulators are usually used on overhead lines where the conductors are hung below the cross-arm, providing excellent flexibility and resistance to mechanical stress over long spans. Their modular design also allows easy replacement of a single unit if damaged.

In contrast, pin post (or pin type) insulators are single-piece insulators that support the conductor directly on the pole. They are typically installed on distribution lines and are limited by their lower mechanical and electrical strength. Because of the voltage and mechanical constraints, pin post insulators are mainly used on lines up to 35 kV. They are compact, simple to install, and suitable for short spans or lower-voltage applications.

Electrical Performance Of Pin Polymer Insulator:
The destructive discharge along the insulation surface is called flashover. Flashover is the main electrical performance of pin insulator.For different voltage levels, the voltage tolerance requirements of pin insulators are different, and the indicators include power frequency dry, wet voltage, lightning shock voltage, lightning shock carrier voltage, operating shock voltage and so on.To avoid breakdown in operation, the breakdown voltage of the insulator is higher than the flashover voltage.
